Despensa de alimentos de Nantucket
La despensa de alimentos de Nantucket, un programa de seguridad alimentaria de Nantucket Food Fuel & Rental Assistance (NFFRA), atiende semanalmente a cientos de clientes. Dirigida por la gerente Ruth Pitts y voluntarios dedicados, la despensa de alimentos proporciona alimentos básicos, productos frescos y comidas preparadas durante todo el año. También hacen entregas a algunos clientes. La Despensa de Alimentos es un socio comunitario vital en el esfuerzo por reducir la inseguridad alimentaria en la isla.

🤝 Meet the newest member of our staff, Kate Ortega! 🤝
Many of you know Kate from her time as owner of Gift & Box or barre instructor @nantucketcyclingfitness, but currently, she is completing her master`s degree internship with NN. We are so lucky for her fresh perspective and expertise!
🏝️ Favorite spot on island: I love being in the forest and being surrounded by nature - anywhere I can really immerse myself in the trees and trails.
🍳 Hobbies: I am a total bookworm and I love reading. I also love traveling the world with my family.
🧡 Connection to island: I came to Nantucket in 2007 as a student and have never lived anywhere else in the U.S. I met my husband here, my kids were born here - it`s truly home.
💬 One word to describe myself: Curious!

Our first farmtruck of 2026 had to be moved indoors due to frigid temperatures 🥶🥶🥶
We are thankful to @pipandanchor for selecting fresh produce and to @nantucketbgc for hosting our program! We hope NBGC families enjoyed some fresh, locally sourced produce (in the dead of winter)!

When we started the grocery card program, we knew there was need, but we didn`t know how much (A LOT). A little goes a long way, and we are grateful to help feed #Nantucket families.
